Hurley wraps up elusive first victory for Shels

SHELBOURNE secured their first win of the season at the 11th attempt as they saw off fellow strugglers UCD at Tolka Park.

For their opener, Adam Hanlon cut in from the right onto his stronger left foot and drilled a low shot that Ger Barron allowed to creep inside his near post.

Shels remained in control, and Wicklow man Stephen Hurley tried his luck on 57 minutes with a 25-yard curler that flew high over the 'keeper and into the top corner.

Hugh Douglas came close for the Students but his effort was batted away by Ger Hanley.
