CORK CITY were always in control as they easily advanced to the second round at Turner's Cross last night. From the start the hosts were the better team and Daryl Horgan broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute.
Five minutes before half-time City doubled their lead as centre-back Kalen Spillane drilled a low 35-yard shot to the net.
Tadhg Purcell put any doubts to bed in the 67th minute as he capitalised on a defensive mix-up and sub Jamie Murphy added a fourth on 81 minutes.
Soon after, another sub, Davin O'Neill, wrapped it up following a one-two with Purcell, though Dean Broaders did get a late consolation for Wexford with a lovely long-range lob.
