DERRY City cruised into the FAI Ford Cup semi-final following an empathic victory over Mervue United.
The Brandywell faithful had double celebrations as hat-trick hero Mark Farren scored his 113th goal for the club to beat Liam Coyle's all-time record.
City took the lead on 12 minutes when Barry McNamee's in-swinging corner found David McDaid and he made no mistake from close range.
Farren got himself on the score-sheet 10 minutes before the break when he controlled Simon Madden's centre before slotting past Conor Gleeson.
This tie was over as a contest on 40 minutes when Patrick McEleney scored a contender for goal of the season when his outstanding chipped effort from just inside the Mervue half caught out a back-tracking Gleeson.
United pulled one back on 52 minutes when Pat Horan blasted home from long range. Their fightback was short-lived as City scored their fourth on 56 minutes through McDaid .
Derry then netted twice in quick succession through Farren before sub Ryan Curran rounded off the scoring with a seventh on 76 minutes.
