Duo bolster Bit o' Red ranks
SLIGO ROVERS yesterday boosted their title chances by landing Seamus Conneely and Jeff Henderson on 18-month contracts.
The move marks a return to the League of Ireland for Conneely, who left Galway United for Sheffield United a year and a half ago. A former U-21 and U-23 international, the right-back never played for the Blades during his stay, spending the last few months on loan to non-league side Alfreton Town.
Sligo fought off interest from League One clubs to land Henderson, who was released by Newcastle United, where he was reserve team captain.
The duo join Ryan Connolly, who joined Sligo from Derby County last week. Sligo are four points clear at the top of the table.
"The contracts being until the end of next season is important," manager Ian Baraclough said. "We're signing players that want to be part of what we're trying to achieve. I've also committed until the end of next season, and we're building."
