Dundalk have completed a deal to sign Serbian midfielder Stefan Colovic pending international clearance.
The Irish champions have thrashed out a deal with Serbian top flight side Proleter Novi Sad to sign the 25-year-old who had six months remaining on his contract.
He has agreed to sign a two year deal with the League of Ireland side, with the option of a third available.
Dundalk boss Vinny Perth travelled to Serbia in December on a scouting mission and has looked at a number of players in the region.
It's believed that Kolovic had options in Korea and elsewhere in Europe but the attacking midfielder is willing to try a new opportunity in Ireland with Dundalk looking outside the usual markets with a view to strengthening their squad for a Champions League campaign.
Colovic may not be eligible to start the season in time due to the processing of his registration, but he does meet work permit requirements having played enough games in his nation's top flight in the preceding year.
He spent time on the books of Atletico Madrid in his youth in addition to Red Star and Partizan Belgrade. The player also had a stint in Bosnia before returning to Serbia.
