Duffy's double keeps Derry on march

Bohemians 0 Derry City 2

LEAGUE CUP specialists Derry City booked their place in the semi-final of the competition at Dalymount Park thanks to a late Michael Duffy brace.

The winger punished loose Bohemians marking eight minutes from time when Barry McNamee spotted him in space on the left side of the box. The 18-year-old cut inside Roberto Lopes before drilling his shot low into the far corner.

His second arrived in the last minute when the Candystripes broke from a Bohemians free-kick and he coolly slotted past Greg Murray. City, who have won the trophy more than any other club, were slow to settle against a Bohs side satisfied to work on the counter-attack.

The visitors continued to create the better chances after the break, with Ryan McBride having his 66th-minute header tipped over.

Despite falling behind to Duffy's opener, Aaron Callaghan's young side might have levelled had Dave Scully not snatched at an 85th-minute chance.

Bohemians – Murray; Barker, Lopes, Byrne, Nangle (Albehadlie 30); Buckley, McEvoy, Falbo (Reynor 65), Moore; Lyons (Scott 88), Scully.

Derry City – Doherty; Houston (Deery 13), Greacen, McBride, S McEleney; P. McEleney, Molloy, McNamee; Duffy, Griffin (Kavanagh 55), Rafter,

Ref – P McLaughlin (Monaghan)
