Drama at Dalymount as Drogheda seal last-gasp win
Bohemians 0 Drogheda 1
TIARNAN Mulvenna’s late winner clinched Drogheda United victory over fifth-placed Bohemians last night.
With a minute left of a dull Dalymount Park affair, the substitute rose unchallenged to meet Sean Thorton’s corner and plant his header past a static Dean Delany.
Adam Evans thought he’d pinched a stoppage-time equaliser but the offside flag was raised when he finished from close-range.
After recording wins over champions Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers in two of their previous three games, Bohemians were blunt in attack.
Of the few opportunities fashioned, Karl Moore should have done better with his header on 15 minutes. Evans picked him out at the back post with a pinpoint cross only for the winger to nod wide.
Derek Prendergast and Ishmail Akinade both missed second-half opportunities of breaking the deadlock for the Gypsies and they were duly punished by Johnny McDonnell’s patient Drogs side through the only real chance of the night for the visitors.
