Doyle's magic trick ensures Sligo go third
Sligo Rovers 3
Bray Wanderers 1
Eoin Doyle scored a superb hat-trick as Sligo Rovers jumped to third in the Airtricity League Premier Division at the Showgrounds.
Doyle opened the scoring on 13 minutes by punishing Matt Gregg's spill. A mix-up in the Rovers defence enabled Conor Murphy to level matters before the break, but Doyle fired home from close range on 59 and 68 minutes to secure a deserved win for the hosts.
Sligo made six changes to the team beaten by Shamrock Rovers on Friday, but Doyle was one that kept his place and got his fourth, fifth and sixth goals in three home games. His first came when he lifted the ball to the net after Gregg had dropped Alan Kirby's delivery at the feet of the grateful striker.
The visitors hadn't a real chance of note until they equalised on 31 minutes, following another defensive mix-up. This time it was Jason McGuinness and Ciaran Kelly that got their wires crossed, with the defender's unconvincing header falling for Murphy to slot past the 'keeper.
But Sligo were ahead again just before the hour mark after some good work from Horgan and Keane released Kirby in the area, and he clipped the ball into Doyle to fire home.
The hosts introduced Joseph Ndo and John Dillon after this, and it was the latter who set up the third for Doyle.
