Disallowed strike frustrates Hoops

Bray Wanderers 0 Shamrock Rovers 0

With little margin of error left in their pursuit of a third title in four years, Shamrock Rovers travelled to Wicklow in search of a fifth successive league victory but left deeply frustrated after Ken Oman had a goal disallowed in stoppage-time when ref Anthony Buttimer penalised him for a push on Danny O'Connor.

Yet the result was no more than Bray deserved and, had their decision-making been a little better, they could have gone into the break with a lead to defend.

Kieran Marty Waters' pace caused all sorts of panic in the Rovers defence, and nearly led to a 27th-minute goal, when he had a shot well saved by Richard Brush.

It was not to be, however, and Rovers dominated territory after the interval as Bray could do little more than dig in.

Ronan Finn had a couple of great chances but it just wasn't his or Rovers' night.
