Corcoran earns point for Shels

Just as when Shelbourne and Cork City last met in a league game, a draw was the outcome at Tolka Park last night.

The game's first real moment of quality didn't come until the 60th minute when Marc Hughes went close from 25 yards.

Shels were then denied what seemed an obvious penalty on 72 minutes when Greg O'Halloran tripped Dinny Corcoran under the nose off ref Derek Tomney.

But the decision went Cork's way and so did the opening goal as Graham Cummins finished off good approach play by Shane Duggan just two minutes later.

The home side didn't allow the set-back break their spirit, though, and Corcoran equalised in the 81st minute.

SHELBOURNE -- Delaney, Scully, Ryan, Whelan, Quigley (S Byrne 34); Cassidy, McGill (D Corcoran 50), Shiels, Foley; Leech (Gorman 65), Hughes.

CORK CITY FORAS CO-OP -- McNulty, Turner, Mulcahy, Rogers, Hojan; O'Neill, O'Halloran, Cillian Lordan, Duggan, Cathal Lordan; Cummins.

REF-- D Tomney.
