Ronan Finn has become the latest player to make a high profile exit from League of Ireland champions Dundalk.

Finn has spent the past two years with the Lilywhites but was out of contract at the end of Dundalk's European run and Shamrock Rovers are understood to have presented the midfielder with an attractive deal to return to Tallaght.

Rovers boss Stephen Bradley confirmed that Finn would be club captain next season as the deal was announced.

"Ronan is one of the best players in the league. I'm absolutely delighted to have him here as club captain," Bradley said.

Finn added: "I'm coming back as a better player and I want to be successful here."

News of Finn's departure will come as a blow to Dundalk boss Stephen Kenny who has already lost the services of Daryl Horgan and Andy Boyle to Preston.

In better news for the Louth club, full-back Dane Massey has signed a new deal with the club.
