Classy Sligo ease past Blues

Limerick FC 0 Sligo Rovers 4

Silverware is always craved by Sligo Rovers and the Bit O'Red were sufficiently classy and clinical to advance to the semi-final.

There was plenty of passing from both teams during a decent opening period as Limerick squandered a couple of chances before Sligo pounced.

Sligo's set-piece prowess was evident from the resultant 26th-minute corner. Kieran Djilali's delivery was crisp and so was Jeff Henderson's header as Rovers took the lead and left Limerick chasing the game.

Limerick's failure to deal with routine situations was proving costly. Another Djilali corner located Gavin Peers, who supplied the headed finish.

Five minutes after the restart Sligo rifled a third when Lee Lynch's pass was converted in opportunistic fashion by Danny North.

From then on Limerick were trading in damage limitation as David Cawley and North were both thwarted by the woodwork, but substitute Evan McMillan announced his arrival with a 77th-minute fourth.
