One of the League of Ireland’s brightest talents will make the move across the Irish Sea as League One side Peterborough have announced the signing of St Pat’s midfielder Chris Forrester on a three-year deal.

Forrester has been in fine form for The Saints this year, winning SSE Airtricity League player of the month in June after netting four goals, and it became a matter of when he would make the move to England rather than if.

“Really happy to announce signing of Chris Forrester on 3 year deal from St Pats,” Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony said in a tweet.

“Great young talented goal scoring central midfielder!”

Forrester made his League of Ireland debut for Bohemians in 2011 before joining St Pat’s the following year. He previously had trials with Wolves and Watford as a teenager and almost joined Bristol City in 2013.

He watched Posh’s 1-1 draw with Gillingham from the stand this afternoon and could make his debut as early as Tuesday, when Peterborough take on Millwall in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
