BRAY Wanderers put out a massive statement in their quest for a possible European spot, with this empathic win at Derry City.

The Wanderers thanks to Aaron Greene in particular were quick and sharp on the counter attack, while City’s poor run of form means they have now lost their last four games in a row and more worryingly have conceded 15 goals in that run.

Alarming for City manager Kenny Shiels, his side look a like a team who have thrown in the towel as the season draws to a close and if they keep this form going they will miss out on fourth place.

Wanderers took the lead on 21 minutes as man of the match Greene raced clear before lifting the ball over Gerard Doherty.

The game was over as a contest on 37 minutes as the visitors netted twice in quick succession, firstly Darragh Noonan turned the ball home before Ryan Brennan easily raced through a static Derry back-line and fired into the net.

The impressive Gary McCabe got into the act and fired home Wanderers’ fourth before Greene’s pace and composed finish on 79 minutes completed the rout.

In the closing stages City’s terrible night was summed up as Aaron McEneff fired over a penalty.
