Bolger effort halts Saints

UCD secured their first win since July thanks to a second-half burst at a wind- swept UCD Bowl last night.

St Pat's went ahead in the 20th minute when Danny North drilled home from 30 yards past goalkeeper Billy Brennan

But David McMillan took less than a minute to make his mark upon his introduction as a half-time substitute, when he fired in the equaliser with another long-range blast.

And then Ciaran Kilduff put the Students ahead in the 65th minute when he burst in from the left wing and drilled in a low strike that Gary Rogers got a hand to but could not keep out.

Then referee Richie Winter awarded the home side a fortunate penalty in the 68th minute after Kilduff went down under an Ian Bermingham challenge. Greg Bolger converted the spot-kick.

Substitute Sean Stewart pulled one back for the Saints in injury-time, when he scored from a corner after Brennan had made a brilliant save to push a Dave Mulcahy volley wide.
