DESPITE again seeing a player sent off, Finn Harps scored a significant victory in their fight against relegation, with goals from Tommy McBride and Danny Morrissey securing the points.

Ollie Horgan's men withstood the first half stoppage time dismissal of Killian Cantwell to return northward with all three points, although the Finn Harps manager was also given his marching orders at half-time by referee Tomas Connolly.

Limerick had dominated the first half, coming close on 20 minutes when Lee-J Lynch picked out Shane Duggan, whose volley sailed narrowly wide.

Lynch then spurned a good opportunity a minute later when Bastien Hery's through ball left him one-on-one with Ciaran Gallagher, but the midfielder could not beat the Finn Harps goalkeeper.

The home side almost netted on the half-hour when Peter Berki stabbed the ball goalwards from a corner, only to be denied by a heroic goal-line clearance.

Finn Harps struck on 39 minutes when Eddie Dsane's initial shot was saved by Brendan Clarke, but McBride was on hand to tuck home the rebound.

Limerick were given a penalty just before half-time when Cantwell fouled Berki in the box, receiving a straight red card in the process, but Rodrigo Tosi's spot kick cannoned back off the post.

Finn Harps easily dealt with Limerick's frail attempts to claw a goal back and struck on 71 minutes when a calamitous defensive mix-up left Morrissey with the simplest of finishes to wrap up the points for the visitors.
