Late Kendrick spot-kick saves point for Drogs as tempers fray

Drogheda came from 2-0 down to snatch a dramatic point at Carlisle Grounds.

Bray struck twice right on the stroke of half-time. Daire Doyle whipped in a cross, Robbie Doyle flicked on and Jake Kelly smashed a 15-yard swerving volley into the net.

It got even better for the Wicklow side in first-half stoppage-time, when they made it 2-0. Shane O'Neill went on a solo run from halfway only to be stopped just outside the box by John Kendrick. Kelly nipped in and tussled with Jamie Harris. Kelly fed O'Neill who slotted past Paul Skinner.

But Bray were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute. Having been booked for a foul on Ryan Brennan in the first half, full-back Shane O'Connor was dismissed after challenging Joe Kendrick along the left flank.

United reduced the arrears in the 79th minute after Brendan McGill struck a 25-yard rocket into the net and Kendrick hit home an 84th-minute penalty after a Colm Tresson handball.

Then Drogheda substitute Jamie Duffy was given a straight red card in the 89th minute after an altercation with Dave Webster.
