Video: It's the 25th anniversary of Gary Lineker pooing himself against Ireland at Italia 90
Ireland fans have been reflecting on the glory days of Italia 90 as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of our first appearance at the World Cup but today's marks a mixed day in the life of Gary Lineker.
The former England striker scored eight minutes into Ireland's encounter with Bobby Robson's England but was in clear discomfort shortly afterwards.
He admitted after the 1-1 draw that he was suffering from a stomach bug during the game.
"He's got stomach cramps or something", said Robson afterwards. "We'll have to have a look at him over the next few days."
Lineker explained: "I've just got a funny stomach. I’ve had it for a few days."
It was 20 years after the game before Lineker explained that he had experienced a mishap.
“Unless you know, you wouldn’t know,” the Guardian quotes Lineker as saying, “but when you know, you do know.
“I was very fortunate it rained that night… it was messy.”
This video proves that he wasn't lying:
