Video: Eamon Dunphy throws pen in studio after scathing attack on Jack Charlton's tactics
"We should be ashamed about the way we went about the game and embarrassed," says pundit
RTE pundit Eamon Dunphy has been scathing of Ireland's performance in today's 0-0 draw with Egypt and pointed the finger of blame firmly in the direction of manager Jack Charlton.
The journalist was left unimpressed some weak Irish finishing, bad luck and frustrating tactics by the Egyptians which means Ireland's hopes of reaching the knock-out stages of the World Cup all depend on the outcome of Thursday night's encounter with Holland
However he saved his biggest complaint for Charlton, flinging his pen on his desk after a scathing rant on the tactics employed.
"I felt embarrassed for soccer, embarrassed for this country, embarrassed for the players, but this has nothing to do with the players," he said.
"I feel embarrassed, ashamed by that performance. Everyone in the country has been let down
