Iranian pair given bum rap

two Iranian football players have been severely punished and face the prospect of receiving 74 lashes in public for an 'inappropriate' celebration of squeezing each others bottoms during a game last weekend.

Members of the Iranian parliament have called for the 'swift punishment' of Mohammad Nosrati and Sheys Rezaei of Tehran-based Persepolis. Rezaei has been sacked by the club with Nosrati banned for six games.

The players were seen rather innocently pinching each other's rear ends as the Persepolis players celebrated goals during a 3-2 victory. However, their behaviour has caused some outrage in the Islamic Republic.

Jalal Yahyazadeh, a cleric and member of parliament, said the "shameless act" had "upset, angered and outraged" all sports fans and that the sports minister should be held accountable.
