Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri will not feature for Switzerland against Ireland in Dublin next week as the Anfield man has told the national team boss that he wants to focus on his club career.

Coach Vladimir Petkovic today named his squad for the Euro 2020 test in Dublin, with five players recalled, but there is no sign of Shaqiri in the panel.

"Xherdan Shaqiri will not be available for the matches in Ireland and against Gibraltar in qualification for UEFA EURO 2020. Given his current situation, he has decided to focus entirely on his club,  Liverpool," the Swiss Football Federation said.

Stephan Lichtsteiner, Michael Lang, Josip Drmic, Timm Klose, Djibril Sow and Steven Zuber are also out of the squad.

Arsenal man Granit Xhaka is included.
