WATCH: Jayson Molumby nets a hat-trick as Ireland U19's thrash Cyprus

Republic of Ireland U19 5-0 Cyprus U19

Tom Mohan's Ireland U19's side thrashed Cyrpus U19's 5-0 in the second of three UEFA U-19 European Championship Qualifying Round games at the RSC in Waterford.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Jayson Molumby netted a hat-trick in just 16 minutes as Ireland put in a much improved display following their scoreless draw with Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

Molumby's hat-trick was accompanied by a brace from Southampton forward Jonathan Afolabi who opened the scoring on 12 minutes before Molumby got his first of the game just three minutes later.

Afolabi was one of five changes made from the draw with Azerbaijan and he certainly made the most of his opportunity in what was a crucial win in Ireland's hopes of qualifying for next summer's European finals in Finland.

Ireland will now go into Tuesday's final game against Serbia looking to claim a second victory and top Group 7.

Republic of Ireland: Travers; McKenna, O'Shea, O'Hora (Doherty 46), Wilson; T O'Connor, Molumby (Obafemi 74); L O'Connor (Martin 67), Bolger, Farrugia; Afolabi.

Cyprus: Demetriou; Ioannou, Adoni, Menelou, Charalampous; Pounnas (Katsantonis 46), Panayides; Konstantinou (Stylianides 79), Gerolemou (Genethliou 46), Louka; Charalampous.

Referee: Alain Durieux (Luxembourg).
