Harry Arter spoke about the heartbreaking loss of his stillborn daughter Renee in a brilliant interview in the Guardian today and it drew a huge reaction from readers who praised him for being so open.

Fellow footballer Alan Cawley tweeted that “it's not often you read an article & have tears rolling down your face. Amazing interview this with Harry Arter”.

He wasn’t the only one who was moved to tears however with many readers admitting that they had broken down reading the story and congratulating Arter on his bravery.

Last night Arter was trending on Twitter in Ireland and the UK as people took to social media in their droves to share his story. Readers described the interview as “powerful, brave and very moving”, while others described it as “inspirational”.

“Genuinely one of the most moving things I’ve every read. Open, honest and unbelievably brave. Legend,” Twitter user Jonny Eckersly wrote.

“A brave and poignant interview. Bournemouth's Harry Arter talks about the love, loss and inspiration of his daughter,” said another user Amy Lawrence.
