It was a night to forget at the Aviva as Ireland's quest to reach Russia next year ended with a whimper. Here's how the Irish players rated.

DARREN RANDOLPH - A fine second half save from Eriksen kept Ireland in the hunt as Randolph was absolved from blame amid this heartache - 7

CYRUS CHRISTIE - The full-back was stationed on the post to clear Denmark’s attacking efforts, but he failed to keep out their opener - 5

SHANE DUFFY - The big defender cemented his status as one of Ireland’s most potent attacking weapons with the opener, but it was to no avail - 7

CIARAN CLARK - He looked rattled at times as Denmark pushed Ireland back in the first half, as Eriksen put Ireland to the sword - 5
