Republic of Ireland international Kevin Doyle will be in MLS action quicker than expected after he agreed an early settlement of his contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 31-year-old signed for the Colorado rapids in March and had been due to arrive in July but will now complete his move prior to the closure of the primary transfer window on May 12.
“We always thought this might be a possibility if Wolves did not achieve their target of promotion,” said Paul Bravo, VP of Soccer Operations and Technical Director.
“We know he is a proven goalscorer at a high level. We are confident he will not only help our younger players in their progression but also add to the group.
“We’d like to thank Wolves for their cooperation throughout this process and we wish them the best of luck next season. Meanwhile we look forward to welcoming Kevin to our club later this month.”
Doyle will not be that long in Colorado before he must return for Ireland's behind-closed-doors game with Northern Ireland on June 4, the friendly with England on June 7 at the Aviva and the Euro 2016 qualifier with Scotland on June 13.
