Irish Rail strike to clash with Republic of Ireland's World Cup play-off

The Iarnród Éireann Trade Union Group have announced five days of industrial action as a dispute with management escalates.

The dates announced this afternoon are Wednesday November 1st, Tuesday November 7th, Tuesday November 14th, Thursday November 23rd and Friday December 8th.

The Republic of Ireland will play Denmark in next month's FIFA World Cup play-off with Martin O'Neill's side set to play the first leg against the Danes in Copenhagen on November 11 before returning to Dublin for the second leg on November 14.

Tickets for the game sold out on Friday while Premium tickets that were reserved for the public sale sold out in less than five minutes.

All strike days will feature a 24-hour work stoppage, full withdrawal of labour and the placing of pickets.
