'I'd say f*** all to him' - Roy Keane completely shoots down Danish journalist's Peter Schmeichel question
There was no love lost between Roy Keane and Peter Schmeichel when they were teammates at Manchester United.
Keane revealed the details of an altercation between the pair in his book.
Keane admitted that their rift erupted to the surface in alcohol-fuelled row in the summer of 1998.
"I had a bust-up with Peter when we were on a pre-season tour of Asia," Keane said.
"I think we were in Hong Kong. There was drink involved.
"The manager had a go at us as we were getting on the bus, and people were going on about a fight in the hotel the night before.
"It started coming back to me - the fight between me and Peter.
"Peter had grabbed me, I'd head-butted him - we'd been fighting for ages."
Both men brushed off the row.
"At a press conference, Peter took his sunglasses off," Keane said.
"He had a black eye. The questions came at him, 'Peter, what happened to your eye?' [Schmeichel] said, 'I just got an elbow last night, in training'. And that was the end of it."
Yesterday at a press conference in the FAI HQ in Abbottstown ahead of Ireland's World Cup play-off with Denmark, a Danish reporter asked Keane: "I flew in from Denmark in preparation for this game and I was just wondering, you were a team-mate of Peter Schmeichel's, have you been in touch with him ahead of this game?"
"No," was Keane's deadpan response
"What would you say to him about what to expect from Ireland?"
"I'd say f*** all to him!"
