Hull City's David Meyler will wear the captain's armband tonight as Ireland go in search of three points against Group D minnows Moldova.

Wes Hoolahan, Jeff Hendrick and Callum O'Dowda also start for Martin O'Neill in three enforced changes from the Serbia game with Jon Walters injured and Robbie Brady and James McClean suspended.

Shane Long and Daryl Murphy start up front for Ireland.

Cyrus Christie and Stephen Ward are the full-backs with Ciaran Clark and Shane Duffy continuing their partnership in the centre of the Irish defence.

Meyler and the returning Hendrick will anchor the Irish defence with O'Dowda and Hoolahan charged with creating chances for the front pair.

Ireland need a victory tonight and all three points from their trip to Cardiff on Monday to have any chance of securing a playoff spot.

Ireland team to face Moldova: Randolph, Christie, Clark, Duffy, Ward, Meyler, Hendrick, O'Dowda, Hoolahan, Murphy, Long
