John Cauldfield was last night recognised for his double-winning exploits by scooping the SSE Airtricity/SWAI Personality of the Year award for 2017.

And Cork completed another double with Mark McNulty scooping the Goalkeeper of the Year award for the second successive year.

Caulfield claimed the main gong ahead of his former star striker Sean Maguire who played a big part in their league win before moving to Preston.

The Cork boss kept the show on the road to seal the crown and then finished the year on a high with a penalty shootout triumph over rivals Dundalk in the FAI Cup final - with McNulty making a vital spot-kick save.

Shamrock Rovers great Ronnie Nolan received the Special Merit award in front of a packed house at Dublin's Conrad Hotel.

Nolan won four leagues and six FAI Cups with the Hoops and also picked up a winners' medal in the latter competition with Bohemians. The 84-year-old also won 10 Irish senior international caps.

Members of Brian Kerr's U-16 and U-18 European Championship-winning squads were also honoured on the evening.
