Robin van Persie has pulled out of the Holland squad due to toe and groin injuries.

The striker played 85 minutes and scored the winner as Manchester United beat his former club Arsenal on Sunday but he has been deemed not fit enough for the international double-header over the next week.

The Dutch FA confirmed the news, meaning Van Persie will sit out Holland's game against Japan in Genk, Belgium on Saturday and the Amsterdam meeting with Colombia three days later.

Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie has also withdrawn due to a bruised foot with Norwich's Leroy Fer and Vitesse Arnhem's Davy Propper called up as the pair's replacements.

For 22-year-old Propper it represents a maiden inclusion in the senior squad and reward for an impressive start to the season for Eredivisie leaders Vitesse.

On Monday, Holland coach Louis van Gaal replaced the injured Dirk Kuyt with Ajax forward Siem de Jong.

Holland qualified for the World Cup finals having won nine and drawn one of their 10 Group D games.
