Hannover's Felipe out of Saints clashes
Hannover will have to do without new signing Felipe Trevizan Martins for their Europa League qualifying matches with St Patrick's Athletic after he picked up a thigh strain.
The Brazilian defender, who arrived this summer from Standard Liege, has been ruled out for at least a fortnight after tearing muscle fibres in a friendly.
Hannover travel to Dublin for the first leg of the third qualifying round tie on Thursday. Mirko Slomka's side finished seventh in the Bundesliga last season and, in addition to Felipe, have strengthened their squad with Hiroki Sakai and Szabolcs Huszti.
Best rocked by cruciate blow
LUCKLESS Irish striker Leon Best is out until January after suffering cruciate ligament damage in a friendly match with his new club, Blackburn Rovers.
Best, who joined relegated Rovers from Newcastle for £3m this summer, sustained the injury in a friendly with AEK Athens.
Rovers boss Steve Kean may now renew his interest in another Irish striker, Simon Cox.
Striker Stewart makes Rovers return
SHAMROCK ROVERS have re-signed Northern Irish striker Thomas Stewart.
The 25-year-old, who spent last year with Partick Thistle, was a member of the 2010 title-winning side, and also chipped in with a vital Europa League goal in Israel that set up a money-spinning tie with Juventus.
