Darron Gibson was back in training with the Manchester United first-team squad yesterday as he seeks to prove his fitness ahead of Ireland's Euro 2012 play-off with Estonia on Friday week.

Gibson has been sidelined since August with a broken toe but has been included in the provisional squad for tonight's Champions League tie with Otelul Galati.

The 24-year-old will need to get some game-time under his belt if he is to have any chance of working his way into Giovanni Trapattoni's plans.

However, Gibson has fallen out of favour with Alex Ferguson since rejecting a summer move to Sunderland.

The Derryman hasn't played any senior football since Ireland's friendly with Croatia in August.

Meanwhile, clarity is expected on John O'Shea's well-being today, with Sunderland set to outline the seriousness of the hamstring injury that the Waterford-born defender sustained on Saturday.
