Germany have admitted that the World Cup trophy has been damaged during the team's celebrations.

Joachim Loew's team bridged a 24-year gap when they beat Argentina 1-0 in extra time in Brazil and they celebrated in style, with superstars such as Rihanna getting in on the party.

The trophy damaged is a replica of the original which was lifted by Philipp Lahm in the Maracana.

President of the German Football Federation, Wolfgang Niersbach, said:  “A small piece was chipped off during the celebrations. But don’t worry. We have specialists who can repair this. We have investigated the incident thoroughly but we did not get a result from that investigation.”
