Gary Lineker has been cleared to front BT Sport’s Champions League coverage after he agreed a new non-exclusive contract with the BBC.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the BBC will shortly announce that they have retained Lineker's services beyond the end of next season months after agreeing a new deal for the rights to Premier League highlights until 2019.
The former England striker will take a pay-cut at the BBC but will be free to work with other networks.
Lineker and current BT frontman Jake Humphrey will share presenting responsibilities with the network and plans for their Champions League coverage will be released soon.
BT has announced a press conference for next Tuesday at which it should unveil its line-up of talent for next season, as well as how much it will charge viewers in order to recoup some of the staggering £897 million it paid for the UK rights to all Uefa club football for the next three years.
Lineker has been presenting Match of the Day since Des Lynam's retirement in 1999.
