Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius is in talks to move to Turkish side Besiktas, according to the Daily Mirror. Jurgen Klopp is ready to let the German leave Anfield, the paper says, with Besiktas interested in a loan deal that could lead to a permanent contract. Karius, who was at fault for two goals in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in May, had been facing an uncertain future after Liverpool signed Alisson this summer.

What the papers say

Manchester City are looking to sit down with John Stones over extending his £120,000-a-week deal, The Sun reports. The paper says club bosses want to reward the 24-year-old following his impressive performance at the World Cup this summer and make him one of their highest earners. Stones’ current deal runs until 2022, but he is expected to be offered an extra £50,000-a-week, the paper adds.

Meanwhile, fellow World Cup star Ruben Loftus-Cheek is also said to be preparing for talks with his club over his future. The Sun says the 22-year-old will hold discussions with Chelsea this week, and will ask Maurizio Sarri for a loan if he does not play regularly. The midfielder only appeared briefly as a sub in the side’s win over Huddersfield, and did not appear against Arsenal on Sunday.

David Moyes could be set for a return to management after emerging as a hot contender for the role of head coach of the United States, The Times reports. It is understood that US Soccer Federation officials have been told of Moyes’ interest in becoming a permanent replacement for Bruce Arena, the paper says. The Scot last worked with West Ham before leaving at the end of last season.

Tottenham are reportedly plotting a cut-price £10million bid for Kieran Tiernay in January. The Daily Express says Spurs, who baulked at the 22-year-old’s £20m asking price this summer, could be set to test Celtic’s resolve after the Scottish champions’ failure to reach the Champions League group stages hit them hard financially.

Social media round-up

Players to watch

Julian Weigl: Borussia Dortmund have reportedly put a £68million price tag on the midfielder to deter Manchester City and Paris St Germain. The Sun says reports in France suggest the German side will not sell for anything less, with Pep Guardiola said to be a big fan of the 22-year-old.

Aaron Ramsey: Fears have been raised over the midfielder’s future as Arsenal have still not made any progress on his new contract, The Sun reports. The 27-year-old has 11 months left on his deal and can start speaking to other clubs in January, putting the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United on alert, the paper adds. It is reported that there has been little movement on a new deal since talks began as far back as last year.
