Football rumours from the media
Olivier Giroud appears to be in high demand as the papers round up the latest possible transfers.
Arsenal striker’s Olivier Giroud rumoured move to Borussia Dortmund looks to be at risk, according to the Daily Mail.
What the papers say
It was thought Giroud would make a good replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but talks about the 28-year-old’s switch to the Emirates also appears to be in doubt – with the German club reportedly demanding £56million for the player and reports of frustrations over the slow progress of the deal.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reports Giroud is also on the radar of Chelsea. It comes as Antonio Conte is on the lookout for a new striker to team up with Alvaro Morata. Edin Dzeko had been thought to be the number one target but Giroud is now being touted as a possibility if the deal for the 31-year-old Bosnian falls through.
Aymeric Laporte could be on his way to the Premier League as soon as this weekend, the Mirror says. Athletic Bilbao’s defender looks set to complete a deal with Manchester City for £57million, the paper says. More than a year ago, Laporte backed away from a move to the Etihad, but has now appeared to indicate he is happy to leave Spain. It means City are unlikely to continue any interest in West Brom’s Jonny Evans, believing Laporte to be a better long-term investment, the paper says.
West Ham could be set to lose striker Diafra Sakho after the 28-year-old signalled he wants to join French club Rennes, The Sun reports. Sakho appears to have been unhappy with the Hammers after only appearing in the squad four times last season and with not much promise of making the starting XI this year. A sale to Rennes might be more likely, however, after boss David Moyes appeared reluctant to lose the player to another Premier League club, the paper says.
Elsewhere, West Ham could be looking to overcome their injury woes with a bid for Daniel Sturridge, according to The Sun. The Hammers are hoping to bag the Liverpool striker on loan in a late move as David Moyes struggles to be without Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Diafro Sakho, who are all out due to fitness problems.

Players to watch
James Maddison: West Ham have made an offer to bring the Norwich City midfielder to London, the Guardian says. The deal could hit a stumbling block, though, as Norwich look to gain more than the £12million offered by the Hammers. Liverpool and Tottenham are also said to be interested in the player.
Sandro Ramirez: The 22-year-old is ready to quit Everton, the Daily Mail reports. The Spanish forward has reportedly told bosses he wants to return to his home country and Sevilla could be the team to make that happen, the paper says, after the player struggled to make an impression at Goodison Park.
