Feeney finishes off Virginia

Goals in either half from Eoin Nicholson and Colm Feeney in Monaghan sent Sligo's Summerhill marching into the Tony O'Neill Cup final.

Cavan school Virginia went into the game on the back of the biggest upset in this year's competition – they thrashed defending national champions St Eunan's College, Letterkenny 3-0 in their provincial decider.

Summerhill, however, began the brighter and took the lead on 20 minutes when Nicholson picked up a cleared corner on the edge of the box and unleashed a rasping shot back over the head of goalkeeper Jack Doyle and into the net.

Ryan McManus was denied a second goal for his side by an offside flag.

Virginia rallied, but Micheal Smart's close-range finish at the other end was also ruled out before half-time.

The Sligo school secured the win with 17 minutes left when a McManus ball over the top sent Feeney through and he finished calmly.
