FA inundated by women wanting to be referees
The Sky Sports sexism row has led to the FA being "inundated" with calls from women interested in becoming referees.
Former England defender Wendy Owen (56) said that since the story broke the FA had been flooded with inquiries from women wanting to be referees.
"In the aftermath of this, women are now realising that they can have a great career as a referee in the Premier League," she said.
"With Andy Gray being sacked by Sky and Richard Keys resigning, it could see the start of a campaign to kick sexism out of football."
