Everton win Sheppard race
EVERTON look set to complete the signing of Ireland under-16 captain Karl Sheppard from Shelbourne on scholarship terms.
The Goodison Park club appear to have beaten off competition from Spurs, Celtic and Middlesbrough for the Dubliner's signature.
Reports in Liverpool suggest that Everton are set to fork out approximately €150,000 for Sheppard thus delivering a financial boost to cash-strapped Shels - but the First Division side have yet to confirm the value of the deal.
Hammers nail down Parker
WEST HAM have completed the £7million signing of England midfielder Scott Parker from Newcastle.
Parker has agreed a five-year deal and becomes West Ham's first signing of the summer.
The 26-year-old was captain at Newcastle last season but was keen on a return to London.
Turkish delight for Carlos
REAL MADRID full-back Roberto Carlos has agreed to join Turkish champions Fenerbahce.
The 34-year-old Brazilian announced in March he would leave the Bernabeu when his contract expires at the end of the Primera Liga season, and has now accepted a new challenge in Istanbul.
Carlos said: "I'm very happy to be a Fenerbahce player next season." And speaking in Turkish, he added: "Fenerbahce, the greatest! Fenerbahce, the champions!"
Figo rules out Spurs move
INTER MILAN winger Luis Figo has ruled out the possibility of a move to Tottenham.
The 34-year-old admits his future at the San Siro is uncertain but has dismissed talk of a move to England or his native Portugal.
"If I continue playing in Europe, I will only do so for Inter," he said last night.
McCarthy off to the Valley
DUBLINER Paddy McCarthy last night left Leicester City to join Championship newcomers Charlton for an initial fee of £650,000.
The Foxes' skipper has been lured to the Valley by Alan Pardew, who has offered him a four-year deal.
PORTUGAL winger Nani has passed a medical at Manchester United and now just needs international clearance before joining the Premiership champions.
