Video: 'Only for me he wouldn't be where he is' - Roy Keane on Cristiano Ronaldo praise Newsdesk Newsdesk

Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane was in particularly good form this afternoon ahead of this Friday's crucial Euro 2016 playoff first leg in Bosnia.

After giving an injury update on Shane Long, John O'Shea and others, Keane had to field a few questions on Cristiano Ronaldo's recent praise of the Irishman's impact on his career.

The Portuguese said: "(Keane was) always screaming to me: 'Cristiano! Pass the ball'! But it was good! At the end of the day, I feel happy because I learned a lot from them," Ronaldo told Sport Magazine.

When asked about the comment today, a deadpan Keane joked: "I made him... only for me he wouldn't be where he is.

"Different players have different traits... who you shout out, who you don't. I didn't shout at Ronaldo that much... I didn't have to."
