O'Neill may look Stateside in bid to prepare squad for opening Euro test
MARTIN O'NEILL could bring his Ireland squad to America next summer in the final friendly window before his competitive bow in September.
After the Yankee Stadium meeting with Spain in June thrilled the promoters, the FAI are anticipating an invitation to play a friendly in the US against teams preparing to travel to the World Cup in Brazil.
With the August international date removed from the calendar, an end-of-season gathering is the only chance for O'Neill to meet with the squad before the Euro 2016 battle begins after the March 5 encounter with Serbia in Dublin.
"I think that (USA) is certainly an option, absolutely," said O'Neill after his makeshift team drew 0-0 with Poland on Tuesday.
