Most fans relocated after site closure
MOST Irish fans who were left without anywhere to stay in Poznan after the campsite they had booked unexpectedly closed have been accommodated elsewhere.
A spokesman for booking.com -- a website hundreds of fans used to book campsite space -- said nine out of 10 fans were now in alternative accommodation.
However, they are also having to work to accommodate fans who are travelling to Gdansk in northern Poland for the game against Spain on Thursday.
"We've been able to relocate everyone over the weekend," said spokesman Edward Kelleher. "Now we're contacting everyone who is arriving soon, so we're a few days ahead."
He said "hundreds" of fans had been affected and they were still waiting to hear from around 30 fans. They had attempted to contact the 30 but have not yet heard back.
The company behind the campsites, Hotelioni, blamed a "media campaign" and "hostile treatment from the local authorities" for the closures.
Anybody concerned about their booking can contact booking.com. Those calling from Ireland should ring 1850 930484 while those phoning internationally can call 0044 203 320 2609.
