Green Army hit the headlines once again at Euro 2016 for being the best fans in the world. But what were the best moments?

1  Fans meet a nun on a train: Martin O’Neill said this was his favourite moment from Euro 2016 and who are we to disagree with the national team’s manager?

It is unlikely that a nun and a group of Irish fans travelling to a match would make great companions.

However, when one group was greeted by a nun on a train they spontaneously showered her with their own version of the Our Father.

2 Making friends in Paris: With security on red alert and English fans rioting in Marseilles, French police were out in force to greet Irish fans before the Sweden match.

They need not have bothered. The Irish were in such good spirits that they helped one elderly couple change a tyre on their car.

3 Serenading a French girl in Bordeaux: Irish lads are renowned chancers but when they stumbled across one attractive local in Bordeaux they couldn’t help but make a move.

Hundreds standing outside the Connemara bar serenaded the young beauty with their own version of Frankie Valli’s classic Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.

4 Rockabye baby: Who said football fans are not a considerate bunch? As they travelled by tram in Bordeaux after the Belgium game, one posse of fans couldn’t resist the urge to help a baby sleep by singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

The video is the talk of France and repeatedly appeared on news bulletins and shows across Europe.

5  Pilot stands up for the Boys in Green: One planeload of fans got a very special safety message as they headed for Lyon at the weekend to see the match with France.

Their pilot came out and made them aware he wanted to hear them singing throughout the flight. He even wore his Ireland jersey.
