Devon secure status

Salthill 2
Cobh Ramblers 1

(Salthill Devon win 3-1 on agg)

SALTHILL DEVON secured league status with a deserved victory over Cobh at Drom.

The Galway side took just seven minutes to double their aggregate advantage from last Tuesday's 1-0 success.

A good delivery from Gearoid O Leidhinn found Robbie Porter and, while goalkeeper Stephen Deasy did well to save his header, the Salthill Devon midfielder finished home the rebound.

Cobh improved as the game progressed and really took the game to the home side after the restart.

And they were rewarded after 66 minutes when they equalised on the night with a well-worked goal.

Peter Nolan crossed from the left and Shane Geasley laid it off for Jamie Murphy, who beat goalkeeper Robert Forde at his near post.

That set up an exciting finish as Cobh went all out in search of the goal which would force extra-time but Chiprian Straut sealed the issue for Devon deep in stoppage-time.

Salthill Devon -- Forde; C Horgan, Geraghty, Whelan, O Leidhinn; D Horgan, Quirke (Straut 74), Porter, Gaffney (O'Reilly 89); McBrien, Collins.

Cobh Ramblers -- Deasy; Hastings (Downing 66), Meade, Collins, Nolan; Domachie, O'Hanlon, O'Shea, Spillane (O'Flynn 78); Murphy, Geasley.

Ref -- J Grimes (Dublin).
