DAMIEN DELANEY has been added to Noel King's provisional squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers with Germany and Kazakhstan.

The Crystal Palace defender missed the original cut and has been struggling with an ankle injury of late. He joins a 26-man panel that will be cut down before the squad meet up next Monday.

King has a weak hand in defence for the German game with Richard Dunne and John O'Shea suspended and Sean St Ledger struggling with injury.

Delaney's call-up is a further blow for Ukrainian-based Darren O'Dea, who was dropped from the squad after being a regular under Giovanni Trapattoni.
