Death of Kevin Blount
THE death has occurred of legendary former League of Ireland goalkeeper Kevin Blount, who passed away in his native Dublin on Wednesday.
Blount, who was born in 1930, won a League of Ireland title with Shelbourne in his first season after making his debut in January 1953.
He went on to be part of the Dundalk team that collected the League, Shield and Top Four Cup in 1966/67 and was a regular member of the League of Ireland team.
The funeral mass for the well-regarded netminder, who also played for Transport and Cork Celtic, will be celebrated in the Church of The Assumption, Ballyfermot, at 11.0 this morning, with cremation afterwards in Newlands Cross Crematorium.
