Cup kings Sheriff facing FAI probe
THE FAI is investigating a possible player eligibility issue in relation to Sheriff YC's heroic cup win over Shelbourne last Friday night.
It's understood there are concerns that the AUL outfit fielded a player who had not been registered in the correct timeframe.
Sheriff came from behind to score a 3-2 victory over the First Division side and make the FAI Cup quarter-finals. Monday night's draw gave them a home clash against Limerick.
The domestic committee of the FAI has called a meeting for Friday requesting the attendance of representatives from Sheriff and the AUL, in addition to League of Ireland director Fran Gavin, who is the competition manager.
