Cristiano Ronaldo has hailed his former manager Jose Mourinho as "the best" at a time when the Chelsea boss is battling to hang on to his job at Stamford Bridge.

Wednesday night's Champions League win against Dynamo Kiev appears to have eased some of the pressure on Mourinho, but he still faces a crunch game at Stoke this weekend and needs all the backing he can get as he battles for survival.

Ronaldo's relationship with his compatriot Mourinho was considered to be less than cordial in their final days together at Real Madrid, but that has not stopped the reigning World Player of the Year confirming he sees the "Special One" as the best of his era in an interview with BT Sport.

Ronaldo went on to discuss his enduring relationship with Lionel Messi, as he admitted he enjoys his rivalry with the Barcelona star.

An upcoming biopic of Ronaldo features a clip of him expressing his disappointment when Messi picks up a Ballon d'Or award and he mades no excuses for his show of annoyance.

Ronaldo was also asked compare the merits of the English Premier League and Spain's La Liga, having starred in both for Manchester United and then Real Madrid.

To watch the full interview tune into BT Sport Europe at 10pm this Sunday. ‘Ronaldo’ is in cinemas, on DVD, Blu-Ray and available to buy or rent on BT TV on 9 November.
