City splash out £40m to sign Fernandinho
MANCHESTER CITY will issue another statement of intent in their quest to regain the Premier League title by completing the £40m transfer of Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Fernandinho has been tracked by City all season and the 28-year-old has made it clear he wishes to move to the Etihad to further his chances of breaking into Brazil's World Cup squad.
The news comes just a day after Sevilla announced a deal to winger Jesús Navas to City for a fee that could rise to £22m.
Navas has overcome a serious anxiety disorder to become the latest exciting Spanish import into the Premier League. He suffered from chronic homesickness earlier in his career – a problem that delayed his international career.
