Chelsea v Arsenal - story of the match

Arsenal ended a five-match losing streak at Stamford Bridge in an entertaining draw with Premier League champions Chelsea.

It was as frenetic and entertaining as a goalless draw could be, with David Luiz sent off late on for a poor challenge on Sead Kolasinac which saw both benches rise to their feet.

Arsenal had the better chances, the best when Alexandre Lacazette shot wide after Aaron Ramsey had hit the post.

Danny Welbeck should also have done better than head wide in a first half which saw Petr Cech save well from Pedro.

"BREAKING: No Sanchez or Ozil in starting XI & Ramsey/Xhaka 'running' our midfield. We're going to get stuffed. #cfcvafc". Television presenter and avid Arsenal fan Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) was not in a positive mood as the teams were announced before kick-off.

Aaron Ramsey. The much-maligned Arsenal midfielder came up against a tough test in the midfield department but came through it well. The Wales international also came closest to winning the game as a bundling first-half run ended with him firing against Thibaut Courtois' post. He was less of an attacking threat after the interval but was a crucial part of the game plan which saw the Gunners end a run of defeats at Stamford Bridge.

Arsene Wenger broke Arsenal's transfer record in his quest to sign a prolific goalscorer as Lyon hitman Alexandre Lacazette appeared to fit the bill. B ut here, the France international was guilty of missing a glorious chance to put Arsenal ahead. Instead he ballooned over from just five yards as Aaron Ramsey's effort off the post fell kindly at his feet.

While Arsenal played well in earning a point at Stamford Bridge - the draw extends their winless away run against last season's top six. It is now 14 games since they last recorded a victory at Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool or Tottenham.
